Consultation and Treatment Plan
Lena evaluates the cosmetic tattoo, your skin, relevant health information and the result you hope to achieve. She explains whether laser treatment appears appropriate and what may realistically be achievable.
Significantly fade existing pigment—whether your goal is removal or a clearer canvas for what comes next.

Cosmetic tattoos can beautifully enhance your features for years, while the look you want may continue to evolve. You may prefer a softer effect or want a different brow shape that could be limited by the color, density or shape of your existing pigment.
In partnership with Elena Aesthetics & Wellness, Evertrue offers Pico Laser removal for cosmetic tattoos you are ready to soften, redesign or move beyond. For example, treatment can reduce the visibility of existing pigment, pursue more extensive removal where achievable or create a better starting point for future cosmetic tattoo work.
Every treatment begins with a personalized consultation. At our NYC salon, Lena Guo, NP, of Elena Aesthetics & Wellness performs laser tattoo removal.
Results and the number of sessions needed vary. However, we cannot guarantee complete removal.

One of the most valuable uses of cosmetic tattoo removal is preparing the brows for a new design. At Evertrue, cosmetic tattooing and tattoo removal are not opposing treatments. A cosmetic tattoo may have suited you beautifully for many years, while your features, style or preferences may change over time. Choosing to lighten existing pigment does not mean the original treatment was a mistake. It may simply mean you are ready for a different direction.
In many cases, complete removal is not necessary. Thoughtful fading may be enough to give your Evertrue artist greater freedom to create a softer shape and fine, natural-looking hair strokes.
When previous pigment remains dark, dense or clearly defined, an artist must plan around the color and shape already present. New hair strokes may blend into the background rather than appearing fine and distinct, while an existing outline may continue to influence the brow shape.
Strategic laser fading can create greater design flexibility. The goal is not always to remove every trace of pigment. In many cases, the tattoo only needs to become soft enough for your artist to see your natural brow more clearly and design with less restriction from the previous color or shape.
The Pico Laser system uses ultra-short laser pulses measured in picoseconds to target tattoo pigment. The energy breaks the pigment into smaller fragments, which the body gradually processes over time.
Cosmetic tattoos may contain several colors and pigment components, so every case responds differently. The pigment formula, color, density, depth, age and number of previous treatments can all affect the removal process.
Some cosmetic pigments may temporarily darken or reveal a different underlying tone after laser treatment. Lena will discuss this possibility during your consultation and may recommend treating a small test area before proceeding.
Laser tattoo removal is gradual rather than a one-session treatment. Some clients want only enough fading to make a new design possible, while others hope to remove as much of the existing pigment as reasonably achievable.

You will wear protective eyewear. Then Lena directs the laser over the selected area using settings chosen for your pigment, skin and goal. You may feel brief snapping or stinging sensations.
03
The area may appear red or swollen and feel tender. Fading continues as the area heals and the body processes the treated pigment.

Lena assesses the response before recommending another session. After sufficient fading and healing, an Evertrue artist can evaluate the remaining pigment and plan what comes next.
Lena’s personalized instructions should always take precedence. Contact her promptly if symptoms worsen rather than improve.
Not necessarily. Some clients need significant fading, while others only need the pigment softened enough that it no longer determines the shape or competes with new hair strokes. Lena and your Evertrue artist will evaluate this at different stages.
Sometimes. Existing pigment may be light and soft enough for an artist to work with successfully. In other cases, its color, density or shape may limit the new design. An Evertrue artist can advise whether laser fading should be considered first.
The number varies according to the pigment formula, color, saturation, depth, age, treatment history and individual response. After each session, Lena evaluates your progress and may adjust the plan as the pigment changes.
It is possible. Some pigments may temporarily darken or reveal another tone when treated with laser energy. Lena may recommend treating a small test area before the entire tattoo.
Our treatment is available for Fitzpatrick skin types I–V. We do not currently offer this service for Fitzpatrick type VI. If you’re unsure of your skin type, Lena will assess your skin and confirm suitability during your complimentary consultation.
Lena generally recommends waiting at least eight weeks after your most recent treatment. The area must be fully healed, with no remaining redness, tenderness, flaking, scabbing or irritation. However, Lena may recommend a longer waiting period.
Wait at least 3–4 weeks after the final laser session, provided the skin is completely healed and Lena has cleared you. An Evertrue artist can then perform a separate brow consultation.
Pico Laser can target a range of colors, including black, brown, red, orange, yellow, blue, green and purple. Suitability depends on the skin and pigment; white or flesh-toned pigments may darken and may require a test area.
Lena may also evaluate lip blush, lip liner, eyeliner, scalp micropigmentation and selected beauty-mark, areola or camouflage tattoos. Suitability depends on the pigment, location, skin and required safety precautions.
