Microblading and Blepharoplasty: How Brow Shape May Change

Considering eyelid surgery? Learn how blepharoplasty can affect brow positioning and when to schedule microblading for the most natural-looking results.

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is one of the most common procedures used to rejuvenate the eye area. Clients who are planning this surgery often ask whether they should schedule microblading before or after their procedure, and whether eyelid surgery will affect the shape of their brows.

Because blepharoplasty can subtly influence how the brow sits on the face, the timing of cosmetic brow tattooing can matter. At Evertrue Salon, we frequently work with clients who are planning procedures around the eyes and want their brows to remain balanced afterward.

Understanding how eyelid surgery can affect brow positioning and muscle movement helps ensure that microblading is designed to complement the refreshed eye area.

How Blepharoplasty Can Affect Brow Position

Although blepharoplasty focuses on the eyelids themselves, it can indirectly affect the position of the brows.

Many people with excess upper eyelid skin unconsciously raise their brows throughout the day to compensate for heaviness around the eyes. This constant muscle engagement can make the brows appear slightly elevated before surgery.

Once eyelid surgery removes the excess skin, the forehead muscles often relax because the eyes feel more open. When this happens, the brows may settle into a slightly lower or more natural resting position.

These shifts are usually subtle, but they can change how the brow arch sits relative to the eyelid and how balanced the brows appear overall. For a procedure like microblading, which carefully follows the natural brow structure, these changes can influence the ideal brow design.

Why Timing Matters for Microblading

Microblading is designed to enhance the natural brow shape while maintaining facial harmony. For the most predictable results, the brow design should reflect the final position of the brows and eyelids.

If microblading is performed shortly before eyelid surgery, the brow shape may not perfectly align with the eye area once healing is complete. Even small shifts in brow positioning can slightly change how the arch or tail of the brow appears.

For this reason, when clients know they are planning blepharoplasty in the near future, we often recommend waiting until after surgery to design the brows.

When to Schedule Microblading After Eyelid Surgery

Most surgeons recommend waiting approximately six to eight weeks after blepharoplasty before scheduling microblading.

By this stage, the eye area has typically stabilized. Swelling has resolved, the muscles around the brows have relaxed, and the final eyelid contour is visible.

Designing microblading after the eye area has healed allows the brow artist to create a shape that complements the new proportions of the eyelid and brow area, resulting in a more natural and balanced appearance.

What If You Already Have Microblading Before Surgery?

Many clients already have microblading before undergoing eyelid surgery, and in many cases the brows still look natural afterward.

Occasionally, small refinements may be helpful during a touch-up session once the eyelids have healed. If the brow position shifts slightly, the artist may soften the arch or rebalance the brows so they sit comfortably with the refreshed eye area.

Because microblading uses fine hair-like strokes, these adjustments can typically be made without significantly changing the original brow design.

Microblading Considerations After Blepharoplasty

After eyelid surgery, the skin around the eyes may feel slightly more delicate than before. For this reason, an experienced brow artist will evaluate the skin carefully before performing microblading.

At Evertrue Salon, we assess the brow area as a whole, including the eyelid contour, brow bone structure, and the natural direction of brow hair. This allows us to create microbladed brows that enhance the eyes without overpowering them.

Careful technique and thoughtful design help ensure that the brows continue to look natural as the face moves and ages.

Planning Cosmetic Procedures Around Brow Tattoo

If you are considering both eyelid surgery and microblading, careful timing can help achieve the best aesthetic outcome.

In most cases, the recommended sequence is:

  • complete eyelid surgery first

  • schedule microblading after healing, typically about 6–8 weeks later

Designing the brows after surgery allows the artist to work with the final anatomy of the eye area, ensuring that the brows enhance the surgical results rather than competing with them.
