Nanobrows and Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty): How Brow Shape May Change

Planning eyelid surgery? Learn how blepharoplasty can affect brow positioning and when to schedule nanobrows or microblading for the most natural results.

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is one of the most common procedures for rejuvenating the eye area. Clients who are planning eyelid surgery often ask whether they should schedule nanobrows or microblading before or after their procedure.

Because eyelid surgery can subtly change the way the brow sits on the face, the timing of cosmetic brow tattooing can influence the final result. At Evertrue Salon, we frequently work with clients who are planning procedures around the eyes and want their brows to remain balanced afterward.

Understanding how blepharoplasty may affect brow positioning can help ensure that nanobrows are designed to complement the refreshed eye area.

How Eyelid Surgery Can Affect Brow Position

Although blepharoplasty focuses on removing excess skin from the eyelids, it can indirectly influence the position of the brows.

Many people with heavier upper eyelids subconsciously lift their brows throughout the day to compensate for the weight of the skin. This constant muscle engagement can make the brows appear slightly elevated before surgery.

After blepharoplasty, once the eyelids feel lighter and the eyes are more open, the forehead muscles often relax. When this happens, the brows may settle into a lower or more natural resting position.

These changes are usually subtle, but they can affect how the brow arch sits relative to the eyelid and how balanced the brows appear overall. For cosmetic tattoo procedures such as nanobrows, these small shifts matter when designing a natural-looking brow shape.

Why Timing Matters for Nanobrows

Cosmetic brow tattooing is designed to enhance facial balance, which means the brow design should reflect the final position of the brows and eyelids.

If nanobrows are performed shortly before eyelid surgery, the design may not perfectly match the eye area once healing is complete. Even small shifts in brow position can change how the brow shape appears afterward.

For this reason, when clients know they are planning blepharoplasty in the near future, we typically recommend waiting until after surgery to design the brows.

When to Schedule Nanobrows After Blepharoplasty

Most surgeons recommend waiting about six to eight weeks after eyelid surgery before scheduling nanobrows or microblading.

By that point the eye area has largely settled. Swelling has resolved, the brow muscles have relaxed, and the final contour of the eyelid is visible. Designing nanobrows at this stage allows the artist to shape the brows according to the final proportions of the eye area, rather than the pre-surgical anatomy.

This approach usually leads to the most natural and balanced result.

What If You Already Have Brow Tattoo Before Surgery?

Many clients already have microblading or nanobrows before undergoing blepharoplasty, and in most cases the brows still look harmonious after surgery.

Occasionally, small refinements may be helpful at the next touch-up appointment if the brow position changes slightly after the eyelids heal. These adjustments are typically subtle and may involve softening the arch or rebalancing the brows so they sit naturally with the refreshed eye area.

Because nanobrows are designed to be soft and dimensional, these refinements can usually be made without dramatically altering the original design.

Why Nanobrows Often Work Well After Eyelid Surgery

After eyelid surgery, the skin around the eye area can sometimes feel slightly thinner or more delicate. For this reason, nanobrows are often an excellent technique, since the digital machine allows for precise, controlled strokes with minimal trauma to the skin.

At Evertrue Salon, brow design always takes into account the overall eye structure, including eyelid shape, brow bone anatomy, and the natural direction of brow hair. This allows us to create brows that enhance the eyes without overpowering them.

Planning Cosmetic Procedures Around Brow Tattoo

If you are considering both eyelid surgery and nanobrows, careful timing helps ensure the best aesthetic outcome.

In general, the most predictable approach is:

  • eyelid surgery first

  • nanobrows once the eye area has healed (typically about 6–8 weeks)

This sequencing allows the brow design to reflect the final eye shape, ensuring that the brows enhance the results of the surgery rather than competing with them.

Expert Nanobrows at Evertrue Salon

At Evertrue Salon, our artists specialize in natural-looking nanobrows that are carefully designed to complement each client’s facial structure. We regularly work with clients who have had cosmetic procedures around the eyes and understand how these treatments can influence brow positioning.

If you are planning eyelid surgery—or have recently had it—a consultation can help determine the best timing for nanobrows so that the brows enhance the refreshed appearance of your eyes.
