Clients often come to Evertrue Salon asking whether they should get nanobrows or a Botox brow lift to improve their brows. The two treatments are frequently mentioned together, but they address very different aspects of brow aesthetics.
A Botox brow lift works by slightly altering the position of the brow through muscle relaxation, while nanobrows and microblading focus on improving the appearance of the brow itself—adding structure, density, and shape where natural hair is sparse. Understanding this distinction is key when deciding which treatment will have the greatest impact.
What a Botox Brow Lift Actually Does
A Botox brow lift is performed by a medical injector using a neuromodulator such as Botox. By relaxing specific muscles that pull the brow downward, the treatment allows the lifting muscles in the forehead to raise the brow slightly.
In practice, the lift is subtle—usually just a few millimeters. The effect can make the eye area look more open and refreshed, which is why it’s often described as a “brow lift,” even though the change is relatively modest.
What Botox does not do is change the shape or fullness of the brows. If the brows are thin, uneven, or have gaps from years of over-tweezing, Botox alone will not correct those issues.
How Nanobrows and Microblading Improve the Brows
Nanobrows and microblading are forms of cosmetic tattooing that create extremely fine strokes designed to replicate natural brow hair. When performed correctly, they allow an artist to reshape and rebalance the brows in a way that makeup cannot replicate consistently.
At Evertrue Salon, most clients choose nanobrows or microblading because they want to address concerns such as sparse areas, uneven arches, or brows that have gradually thinned over time. Cosmetic tattooing allows us to restore the visual structure of the brows—sometimes quite dramatically—while still keeping the result natural.
Where Botox changes muscle movement, nanobrows change the visual architecture of the brow.
Structural vs Cosmetic Brow Changes
One helpful way to think about these treatments is that they improve two different components of the brow area.
A Botox brow lift affects the position of the brow and the surrounding muscles, creating a subtle structural lift. Nanobrows and microblading, on the other hand, improve the cosmetic design of the brows themselves—their shape, density, and balance on the face.
Because they address different concerns, the treatments are not necessarily alternatives. Many clients ultimately find that they complement each other.
Which Treatment Makes the Biggest Difference?
For most people, the most noticeable improvement comes from brow shape and fullness, not from lifting the brow slightly. When the brows are sparse or poorly defined, adjusting the brow design tends to have a much greater visual impact.
This is why many clients start with nanobrows or microblading. Once the brow shape has been refined, some later choose to add a Botox brow lift to subtly enhance the eye area.
When both treatments are used thoughtfully, the result can be a combination of better brow structure and improved brow positioning.
Can You Combine Nanobrows and a Botox Brow Lift?
Yes, and many clients do.
Because Botox and cosmetic tattooing work in completely different ways, they can complement each other well when timed correctly. In our experience, it is generally best to design the brows based on the client’s natural resting brow position, which is why many artists prefer to perform nanobrows before Botox.
If a client has recently had Botox, waiting about two weeks before brow tattooing allows the muscles to settle into their final position. This helps ensure the brow design remains balanced as the face moves naturally.
Why Brow Design Still Matters
Even when Botox lifts the brows slightly, the shape of the brows themselves remains the most defining feature. Subtle adjustments to arch placement, stroke direction, and brow length can dramatically change how the face is framed.
That is why cosmetic tattooing often creates the most noticeable transformation. Botox can enhance the overall eye area, but the brow design itself still determines how polished and balanced the result appears.
Expert Brow Design at Evertrue Salon
At Evertrue Salon, our artists specialize in natural-looking nanobrows and microblading designed to complement each client’s facial structure and existing brow pattern.
