Thinking about getting microblading in NYC? Understanding the healing process is key to getting the results you want. At EverTrue Salon, we offer expert guidance every step of the way. Here’s our trusted day-by-day microblading healing guide, based on our years of experience helping clients throughout New York City.
What to Expect During the Microblading Healing Process
Every client is unique, but most follow a similar timeline during microblading healing. Some skin types may heal at a different pace, so please consult your EverTrue specialist if you have additional questions—we’re always here to help!
Day 0 – 1: Immediate Reactions Post-Treatment
-
The microbladed area will be tender, possibly red or slightly swollen.
-
This reaction is normal and typically subsides within a few hours.
Day 1 – 3: Brows Appear Darker Than Expected
-
Your brows will look darker and bolder during this period.
-
The color will gradually soften over the next two weeks—don’t panic!
Day 3 – 5: Itching Begins (No Scratching!)
-
The brow area may begin to itch—this is part of your skin’s natural healing.
-
Resist the urge to scratch. Gently press the area if discomfort occurs.
Day 5 – 7: Peeling and Flaking Phase
-
Pigment will begin to peel or flake. This is a critical phase.
-
Do not pick, scratch, or pull the area. Allow natural exfoliation to happen.
Day 7 – 10: Post-Peeling Clarity
-
The pigment will stop peeling.
-
The color underneath may appear soft or “faded”—this is temporary.
6 – 8 Weeks: Final Healing and True Color Emerges
-
The pigment may seem very light or faded. This is the oxidation process and your skin’s natural recovery.
-
This is normal—your brow color will gradually return and stabilize.
Microblading Perfecting Session
Once the microbladed brows have fully healed, we can evaluate if a touch-up or perfecting session is needed. This is usually done around the 6–8 week mark.
The Full Microblading Healing Timeline at a Glance
- Healing time: 6–8 weeks
- The initial dark phase is temporary.
- Color will return in the final stages—be patient!
- Expect your final brow appearance around week 8.
Common Concerns During Healing
- You may feel like most of the pigment is gone within the first two weeks—this is normal.
- This is just your skin going through a natural exfoliation and healing process.
- True results won’t be visible until full healing is complete.
Tips for a Smooth Microblading Recovery
These tips help NYC clients get the best microblading results:
- Avoid water and sweat for the first 7–10 days.
- Use only approved aftercare ointments provided by your technician.
- Stay away from skincare with acids or retinoids during healing.
- Protect your brows from sun exposure and excessive moisture.
Why Healing Can Be Different for Everyone
Factors that affect healing time and results:
- Skin type (oily skin may retain pigment differently)
- Age and skin regeneration speed
- Overall health and adherence to aftercare instructions
Trust the Healing Process
Toward the end of the healing phase is when you’ll finally see the true color and shape of your microbladed brows. Please be patient, and allow your skin the full 6–8 weeks to heal before evaluating results.
We understand this can be a stressful time, especially when you see the pigment fade—but it comes back, and your final results will be worth the wait!
